We dont know who constructed the giant broom_APC

The All Progressives Congress says the party is not responsible for the giant broom monument mounted at the city gate in Abuja.
The structure, a broom which is a symbol of the All Progressives Congress, has generated widespread reactions from Nigerians, with some questioning why a party symbol would be erected at such a monumental position as the city gate of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The APC publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu in an exclusive chat with Channels Television says the giant broom was erected by Nigerians who support the Buhari-led administration.
In reaction to the PDP’s condemnation of the structure, the APC spokesman told the opposition party to erect its own symbol.

ASUU to suspend strike reaches final agreement with FG

ABUJA—-ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)has suspended the three month old strike after signing all agreements with the Federal Government.

The agreement was reached through at the end of the conciliatory meeting held at the instance of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige and his Education counterpart, Malam Adamu Adamu.

The parties brokered the truce few hours after a team of Students from National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) threatened showdown against the leadership of ASUU who attended the negotiation.

Ngige, who read the agreement signed by both parties, expressed optimism that the strike would be suspended.

He said, “This is going to be a conclusive meeting and conciliatory meeting between Federal Government and ASUU.

“This dispute culminated into a strike that started on the 5th of November, 2018.”

According to him, the parties unanimously resolved the eight contentious issues that had prolonged the strike.

He noted that the issue of the NUMPENCO has been resolved as ASUU collected the licence on the 28th January, 2019.

Besides, the Minister said that the Visitation panel has also been instituted and will commence work on 2nd March with the view to sanitizing the tertiary institutions, adding that it was in tandem with anti-corruption campaign.

On Earned Allowances, he said that the Federal Government has released the sum of N20 billion to all categories of staff but with ASUU having a bigger chunk of the money.

He however noted that Government has approved additional N5 billion for payment of Earned Academic Allowances and others.

He further stated that the sum of N25 billion will be released as Revitalisation Fund between April and May 2019 and resume full implementation of the MoU signed since 2009.

On the reconstitution of the Federal Government’s negotiation team, he noted that none of the parties can dictate whom to represent the interest of either parties based on the International Labour Organization Convention.

Meanwhile, it was agreed that Government’s team should reconvene not later than Monday, 9th and conclude its work on or before 29th March, 2019.

To this end, he observed that ASUU has resolved to brief respective organs with the view to suspend the strike.

On his part, Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President, said that the brief presented by the Minister was what was agreed.

“finally, we have come up with a document which we have signed on behalf of our members. Our members are waiting and you will hear from us later today,” he said.

Vote for for who has knowledge of Business or Economy_pastor Chris Oyakhilome

As the General elections in Nigeria draws nearer, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has told Nigerians to vote for who has a knowledge of business or economy.

The Christ Embassy founder who spoke at his church’s monthly communion service on Tuesday, called on Nigerians to be wise and not vote based on ethnic influences.

According to him, Nigerians should ensure they participate in this year’s general elections, and vote for competent leaders.

Pastor Chris who noted that Nigeria needed a government that understands how to make the economy grow, urged Christians to avoid using the candidacy of a ‘born again’ to make their decisions.

”I want to say this to you, and it’s very important. Don’t be guided by ETHNIC influences. Be wise! The elections have something to do with your LIFE & your Future.

”Sometimes people are excited about those they want to bring into office. I don’t know whether they ask themselves the most important question. – Are you going to be happy in 4 years time? Do you like a candidate because he is likable? Or do you want a Candidate because he or his running mate is from your area of the country?

”They are together because of their ethnic origin, but then they decided they are backing a particular party. Its like Hausa’s would support this candidate, the Igbo’s would support this candidate. Christians don’t think like that.

”When it comes to elections, the first thing you think about is about the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. What would happen to it? Because it is in your hands. Your decision would affect the Gospel. That’s the first thing that should come to your mind. – Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness. That’s priority.

”Now, I don’t in this way mean at all that the candidate that is born again is the right candidate. My knowledge of history have shown me that the Church have suffered most in the hands of supposedly Christians.

”But the guy that generally had the fear of God, and didn’t know anything about being born again, he feared God more and was afraid to do anything against the CHURCH.

”When you have a born again, he was the one that started a regulation against the church. They went into office to do something against the Church, like the church was the problem.

”Don’t use the candidacy of a born again to make a decision. Not at all.

”You need a government that understands how to make the economy grow. Because when you elect people into office they are responsible for managing our corporate wealth.”

”Anybody who has never run a business successfully, who has never led people successfully cannot lead a nation successfully.

”You cannot expect someone who has never manage the economy of an organization to manage the economy of a Nation. It is foolishness to think so.

”All the candidates have records. Don’t use records of what other people said about them. Use records of what the country was like,” he added.

I Blew before Wizkid_DANNY YOUNG

Nigerian singer, Danny Young is claiming he ‘blew’ before Wizkid and so the Star Boy should not be considered as the pioneer of young stars in Nigeria.

This comes after UK-based OAP Adesope had stated that Wizkid paved the way for other Nigerian young artistes as Davido, Burna Boy and so on. Reacting to the OAP’s stance, Danny Young is blaming the OAP for trying to re-write history.

He wrote:

We made this song in 2006, it was one of d biggest songs in Africa. I was just 16. The youngest kid Artiste/Producer at Dat time.

Parents flogged music talents off their kids, but it changed afterwards. There was no social media so we had to travel everywhere we wanted our songs to be aired.
Channel O was the biggest international cable station and this song remained on No1 spot on the chat for several weeks.
Then, Radio wouldn’t play u if u aren’t exceptionally good as they played more of western Artistes. But we reached out despite the limitations. We did almost the best dat was available at dat time. Every kid wanted to be like me.
Even the person in question wouldn’t say I didn’t inspire him. Besides 2face (African queen) , Dbanj (Oliva twist) and Ice prince (oleku) further established our music internationally. Thank God for wizkid and Davido as they have further broken bounds by building on these platforms and we are proud of them.. It will not end there as it is like a process.
There are others coming that will do greater things too, but it is important that we don’t forget by tomorrow what these guys (Wizkid,Davido,Olamide etc) are doing today.
It’s like saying Phyno is the originator of Igbo Raps, where will u place Nigga Raw, or Saying Olamide started Yoruba raps when we had lord of Ajasa. let’s always dish out the correct information when it comes to history of the Nigerian music industry.

80% Of ASUU members vote to continue the on going strike.

No fewer that 80% of members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have voted for the continuation of the ongoing nationwide strike.
It was gathered that over 200 members of the University of Ibadan, UI, chapter of the Union who attended the congress voted for the continuation of the strike while a little above 50 voted for its suspension with conditions.

According to one of the ASUU members, the members who voted did not even consider the third option which states that the strike should be suspended with conditions. Speaking after the referendum, Dr. Deji Omole, Chairman of the University of Ibadan Chapter, said the referendum was conducted to know if the union should end the strike or not.

He affirmed that members voted for the continuation of the strike because the government is yet to meet all of its demand. ASUU and the Nigerian government are yet to come to an agreement on funds for the revitalisation of universities.

The union is demanding N50billion but the FG released only N25billion, saying it does not have N50billion. Speaking after the last meeting, Chris Ngige, Minister for Labour and Employment said, “We have met it halfway. We have offered what we have; we don’t have N50 billion.”
